Welcome to my family blog!
My name is Rick Labelle. I’m married to my wife Andrea, whom I began dating in 1988. It took us a hell of a long time to get married but we did it in 2001 and it’s been fantastic ever since.
We live in Ottawa, Ontario with our two boys, Colin and Adrian and also have a live-in caregiver, Rica, who’s from the Philippines.
We had our kids relatively late in life. I was 37 when Colin was born and 41 when Adrian came along.
Prior to that, my favourite hobby was performing stand-up comedy. I did it for two years and really enjoyed the experience. In fact, I can honestly say that never once did the club owner tell me not to come back. That’s a good thing in the comedy business and can only mean that I am a funny guy!
Anyway, after the boys arrived I found it difficult to continue doing stand-up and needed another outlet. So, I decided to write this blog and share my experience’s of being a husband, parent and guardian to my family.
From the time our first son Colin was born, I’ve been an avid reader of numerous web sites offering their expertise on raising children. I’ve used their advice and suggestions with respect to behaviour, communication and even dealing with sleep issues. Some have worked and some haven’t.
I’ve discovered that the key element to raising happy, well behaved children is commitment, communication and lots of love and laughter. And the result has been a positive one for all of us. Angie and I have a wonderful relationship and truly are, proud parents.
And it certainly helps to have a sense of humour. I love to get laughs and I will do anything for one. There’s nothing quite like the experience of having your kids laughing their hearts out with you!
