Last week, Rica went downtown to celebrate Canada Day. It was her first Canada Day ever and I asked her if she would be interested in sharing her experience with my readers, especially as a new Canadian.
Here she is, Rica!
As I looked forward to my first Canada Day celebration, I had a feeling of excitement based on what I had heard from my friends and how they celebrated it – lots and lots of fun.
I headed to Parliament Hill with friends and hoped to see a glimpse of the Queen. Her presence alone would make this even more memorable.
The crowd was enormous which made it very difficult to be close to where she was, but I was able to see her on the big screen anyway.
The Canadian flag was everywhere, so I decided to get my face painted with small maple leafs on both sides of my face and took lots of pictures. I even tried poutine which I found very yummy to eat!
As we walked about I felt the spirit of happiness and excitement within everyone.
We watched stopped to watch some of the concerts being performed and enjoyed how everyone was dancing to the music.
Our last hour of the evening was spent watching the fireworks. I was so delighted and amazed to see it. It was wonderful.
I am so thankful that I was able to experience this memorable celebration.
